 ARTIST STATEMENT

I work in the symbolist and surrealist genres. I work to infuse slightly unusual images into seemingly traditional landscapes. I am a storyteller. I want my paintings to set the stage for a story that will involve the viewer. I want to create paintings that someone wants to look at more than once.

ARTIST BIO

I was born in 1949. I taught art on the high school level for 32 years at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix. Prior to that I worked for the Arizona Commission on the Arts as a writer/poet in their Artists in the Schools program and as a public artist with the federally funded Comprehensive Employment and Training Act. I am currently retired and working on my own art, as well as teaching art to veterans, art to elderly refugees, and art to young victims of trauma through a project with the Arizona Artists Guild.

In the summer of 2017, I moved to Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
